Extremely frustrated with our Canadian legal system and its' inconsistencies, sometimes outright bias. Justice is a misnomer....the average Canadian cannot afford to hire a lawyer to interpret the law and negotiate a solution; the complexities of the court system are overwhelming to those persons who are forced to self-represent, and the onus of staying informed is stressful and exhausting to those of us who also have to juggle work, family and health issues. My experience with Family Law is very discouraging in the face of obvious bias favoring mothers, the lack of adequate Legal Aid representation for the low / middle class, the endless postponements before a decision is finally reached, and the lack of co-ordinated and mandatory mediation, in the absence of urgent safety issues, for all parties BEFORE an action can be started. We are doing the children of this country a disservice. Once a decision is reached, the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program is a miserable, impersonal, ineffective communication institution to deal with.....
